“It’s your move!”

What an incredible example we have in Moses!

He “kept company” with God speaking face to face like friends do.

He stopped and “turned aside to see” what it was that was glaring right in front of him.

He kicked off his sandals and “humbled himself” before Almighty God.

He blurted out the extravagant request, “SHOW ME YOUR GLORY!”

He “climbed a mountain early in the morning” to see the God he desperately wanted to know!

Wow! I want that kind of intentionality!  Those were all Moses’ “moves” – he wasn’t too busy; he wasn’t waiting for God to find him; he wasn’t sitting idle; he wasn’t doing other things; and he didn’t miss it.  He was making a request and seriously seeking God!   He was on a specific search and he was making his “moves.”

I love how Catherine describes it on page 88, “Both Scripture and experience teach that it is we, not God, who determine the degree of intimacy with Him that we enjoy.  We are at this moment as close to God as we really choose to be.”  Hmmm??????? Sounds like it’s our move!

I am praying that you are choosing to be close enough that you don’t miss the intimacy He wants to share with you and the company He wants to keep with you!

From emails and phone calls and seeing you here and there, it sounds like you are doing this because I have heard from many of you how God is using this quiet time in your life, and I thought I should encourage you to share this excitement on the blog!  I will receive an email and wish it were on the blog so that it would not just bless my heart, but potentially bless all of you as well!  Let me take this opportunity to “push you” ever so gently to take that brave or extra step and share what God is teaching you or how He is using this study in your life.  It really does have grand benefit for us all!  Share your comment sometime this week below!

After studying the life of David in my last precept class, I am very eager for the next week because I have already seen what a great heart he had.  I am anticipating walking a little closer to God after peeking at the life of David – a man after God’s own heart!

I pray this chapter in life is causing you to move toward intimacy with God.  He is the Faithful and True, who has put everything amazingly into place for your growth and your benefit!  He has thought of everything and is always patiently waiting — so now . . . “it’s your move!”

Ever moving toward Him,

Debbie Harris

Debbie, the same lesson from page 88 struck me. I feel so humble and ashamed knowing that the Almighty God who lures me through the days of my life, is waiting for me to go deep as I wish with my relationship with Him. My hearts prayer for me and for all of us is to get more serious in wanting to walk closely with Him. the song “I went to the garden one day” makes me see how intimate and warm my relationship can be with my infinite God and Savior.

  2. I agree with you Debbie and Jocelyne. To even say the words “show me Your Glory” sends chills down my spine. When you really believe prayer is keeping company with God and that the words you are saying cause you to “experience” God the earth moves. I have prayed extravagantly desiring God and He has shown up in ways you would never have imagined. He was there all along but since I asked Him to be Big He was and He does. It is thrilling to see Him work with you when you MOVE toward Him. I know in the past at times I have at times pulled back when it got “too” intimate for it scared me that I was really experiencing God. But now it is wonderful to start out your day thinking you will study for an hour and then go do ….. but you get to engrossed that you look up at the clock and it is noon already and you are still in your pj’s and the dog hasn’t been feed and the UPS guy is at your door. Now that is moving, physically and emotionally. That happens to me more and more lately. (being unemployed helps) But if I had my way I would have that happen every day. I hate it when I have to stop and go do chores or errands or what ever.
I am really enjoying this book very much. I love your letters and your enthusiasm Debbie, it feels like you are right here with me. Got to go I need to start back down off of this mountain. But oh how I hate to. This was a great lesson and week. I too look forward to being with David again. I see myself so much in his life, in and out of sin, running to and from, but all the time my heart is truly seeking to be with my Almighty God and please Him as best I can, faulty at best, but at least still moving in the right direction. Have a great week sister. I miss you all. Blessings

  3. I just wanted to share what I read today in my devotional by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. It really goes with our quiet time study.

”When I wake up grumpy, I’m usually mad at myself for oversleeping. Then, I take my frustration out on my husband and my kids.”

Nancy Leigh DeMoss: If you can relate, listen to this great advice from the old-time preacher, Charles Spurgeon. He said, “It is a good rule never to look into the face of man in the morning until you have looked into the face of God.”

The psalmist put it this way: “I rise before dawn and cry for help. I have put my hope in your Word.”

If you have trouble being kind to others in the morning, maybe the answer is to get up early enough to be alone with God. Cry out for help.

Let the face of God be the first one you see. You may be surprised at how it changes the way you relate to other people throughout the day.

With Seeking Him, I’m Nancy Leigh DeMoss
